Canada please don’t get rid of your health care system and get a privatized system like the USA . Because it’s better to wait on healthcare than to go bankrupt trying to pay for it. And then wind up homeless.
Alberta is working on privatizing healthcare as their mandate while Doug Ford in Ontario is already in the process of outsourcing or privatizing parts of the public healthcare system. Canadian healthcare is actually run by the provinces despite being partly subsidized by the Federal government. People in Canada are mostly going homeless due to the ongoing housing bubble and cost of living crises.
talking to Canadians in the past they do not seem to realize the perils of having a private insurance company in charge of your health. Better to wait on treatment than to go bankrupt getting it.
It doesn't matter when the majority of provincial voters voted in a government that is aiming to phase in private healthcare. Also people can't wait for critical treatment and sometimes travel abroad to pay for treatment rather than risk the situation getting worse without the chance of deducting medical expenses.
I feel that healthcare should be available instantly if one is able to pay for the service. The public wait line could be reduced because of that ability to pay right away.
Those that are unable to pay upfront will still be in line waiting for the public healthcare and not turned away.
Why couldn’t there be options?! If I could pay for a procedure go forward to do so; the others wait to be seen? They WILL be taken care of when it’s their turn.
